ADITYA-L1 Solar Mission: A Unique Journey to Solar Exploration
India’s ADITYA-L1 mission is poised to rewrite the book on solar exploration. Armed with groundbreaking features and an extraordinary trajectory, this mission is set to uncover the Sun’s secrets like never before.
The Path to L1:
Scheduled for launch from ISRO’s Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR (SDSC-SHAR), Sriharikota, the ADITYA-L1 mission will commence its journey aboard the PSLV XL rocket. It will initially orbit Earth in a Low Earth Orbit before adopting a more elliptical orbit. Subsequently, the spacecraft will utilize its onboard propulsion to venture towards the Lagrange point (L1).
As the spacecraft embarks on this remarkable trajectory, it will journey beyond Earth’s gravitational Sphere of Influence (SOI). Exiting the SOI marks the beginning of the cruise phase, leading to the spacecraft’s insertion into a vast halo orbit encircling L1. This intricate journey is expected to span around four months, from launch to reaching L1.
